In today's episode, Rachel asks what is the best AI tool for turning existing messy notes into PowerPoint slides. Rachel says most recommendations I'm seeing are for generating presentations from a topic by already have the content. It's usually messy notes, transcripts, and giant walls of text. How do I try to readable slides? Okay.

My general recommendation for tools these days for this particular task is clawed co-work or clawed code. OpenAI Codecs would be fine as well if you use the you know the skills like the PTX skill. Gemini or Google's anti-gravity will also do a capable job. Any agentic system. I would argue that you do not need to buy additional software.

Today's foundation tools are very, very capable of this specific task. However, your what your question hints at you're trying to overload the model. You're at risk of overloading it. Here's what I mean. Going straight from messy notes to slides is you're gonna lose context, you're gonna lose nuance, you're gonna lose a bunch of things because the machines are going to try to do too much.

Even the agentic systems will have trouble turning that into something valuable in one shot. What you want to do is first load all of your data into the machine of choice and then say, help me organize this data. Help me help me turn it into some kind of narrative. I would suggest using a deep research tool to uh research things like information design or information architecture, uh presentation design. There's so many good frameworks for presentation design and development that you can use.

Um there are gosh, I've lost count of how many different ways there are to do presentations and to communicate data in an intelligible way. What you want to do is identify what framework you want to use for your information architecture first and then have it build the slides from that. That's what the way I'd approach that. You should also have written down what your design standards are for the slides themselves, right? So is this for work?

If so, you should have a brand style guide. You should have color standards, graphic standards, fonts, all those things should be written down first so that you're not leaving it up for the machine to guess because that will go badly. If you're using a gentic tools like clawed code and clawed co-work, you can actually provide them with templates. So if you have an existing template that you're either want to use or you're supposed to be using, you can give them that as a starting point, and they will do a very good job with it. So I would start with those things, those pieces in place.

If you don't have those things, generate them because they are prerequisites. They're prerequisites to make sure that you have a you have good outcomes. Finally, when it comes to thinking these things out, you need to have a storytelling framework. Nobody enjoys just a data dump of like braindroppings. That tends to not be something that people enjoy or find valuable.

What is your what is your storytelling framework that you want to use for your slides? And they it doesn't have to be complicated, but it has to be coherent. So storytelling frameworks involve things like you know, beginning, middle, and end, uh, large, medium, small, small, medium, and large, taking small things and turning to a big story, taking big things and turning them into a specific story. If you don't have these things established, that's going to be very difficult to create a slide presentation that anyone's going to pay attention to because it people are going to see it as just a big pile of irrelevancies. So, those would be my suggestions.

Again, you do not need to buy additional software. There's no reason to be spending lots of extra money when an agentic tool coding tool can do most of the heavy lifting. Look for the PPCX skill. Look for um design frameworks that you like, and use that as your starting point. Thanks for the question.
