Here’s the SEO-friendly title: The Secret 3-Hour Prep Behind Every Perfect Livestream (And Why You Should Never Skip It)

Even livestreams need rehearsals.

Every Thursday at 1 PM ET, you can catch me, Katie, and John (usually) on our Trust Insights livestream. Tomorrow, for example, we’re looking at the new plugins feature in Claude Cowork. (and they are very cool)

What you don’t see is the prep work on Wednesday night. Usually there’s 2-4 hours of rehearsal and building on Wednesday nights. For example, I’ve spent the last 3 hours hammering on a custom Claude Cowork plugin that generates a GEO-optimized press release based on an internal tool we built.

In the truest Monty Python fashion:

The first version sank into the swamp. Well, no, it just didn’t work.

The second version installed but didn’t follow instructions.

The third version followed instructions sort of but didn’t use the provided Python code.

But the fourth version worked!

“But Chris, why don’t you build in public so people can see what really happens?” Because no one wants to watch 3 hours of me swearing and staring at a terminal window. That’s boring as hell. I love me and I would not watch me doing that for 3 hours. Or even 1 hour.

Some episodes need little more than an outline or a mind map. Other episodes require full software builds. But the show itself is a bit like a cooking show. Somewhere off camera, a turkey’s been in the oven for a few hours – and we should all be thankful for it.

There’s a fine line between authenticity and appallingly boring. Know where it is before you go live.
