In today's episode, Zabira, sorry if I butchered your name. Zabira asks, is there a reliable way to track traffic attribution for AI tools? Yes, there is. There's a guaranteed 100% reliable way to do this that is straightforward but requires you to do work. And that is to ask people how they are reviewed.
That's it. That's the answer. I could end this video right now. On your contact form, put an open text field, no drop downs, no uh nothing that makes data analysis brainless. Put a field on there that says, How did you hear about us?
And then let people type in answers. If ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini or Google's AI overviews or Perplexity or Deepseek or Quinn or take your your pick. If AI is never the answer, then any Oregon. Said, I asked ChatGPT for someone who did this and you came up. That was the that was the answer.
I asked Clauder, Claude suggested you were one of the people I should talk to. I know that our optimization efforts for AI are working because people are telling it us that. If you have a call center and you're taking inbound calls, one of your questions should be, hey, how did you hear about us? What did you do to research? Right?
If you have focus groups and customer advisory boards, ask people, hey, how often are you using ChatGPT or Claude or Gemini or whoever to research new solutions? How how what how involved is AI in contract review? Ask the question and listen to people when they answer. You do not need fancy analytics tools. In fact, most of the so-called AI attribution tools that are on the market that are being peddled by many different SEO companies are junk because they are either simulating things or they are uh tracking things that are in literal violation of people's terms of service, which means that at any given moment they could lose their primary data source.
This is not rocket surgery. Just ask people how they heard of that. And by the way, you're going to get amazing data out of this. You're gonna get data that will open your eyes to other possibilities for your marketing because you're not saying people I need to know which AI you use. You're just saying, how did you hear about us?
If you suddenly start noticing, oh, someone was talking about you at a conference, um, someone was talking about you uh on this Zoom call. I oh, I'm in this Slack group, and someone was talking about you. Uh oh, I was uh I was browsing TikTok and this influencer man that's uh mentioned you. You're gonna find out a lot of useful answers. Now, people say, Oh, well, I don't have the ability to analyze that data.
Yeah, you do. You have chat GPT on Claude and Gemini and all these different things. Um, there is a live stream from the Trust Insights team on uh trust insights.ai slash YouTube from a few weeks back about analyzing survey data with generative AI, and where we showed using Gemini right inside of Google Sheet. You can do that with Copilot inside of Excel. You can do it with Claude inside of Excel.
In fact, Claude inside of Excel just launched not too long ago and is better than Microsoft's implementation, which is really embarrassing for Microsoft. It is there for you. You can do it. It's easy, it's straightforward. So ask people the question.
How did you hear about us? That's it. Nothing else needed. Tally it up. And like I said, if no one ever says AI, you know that your generative, whatever we're calling it this week, strategy didn't work.
No, no simpler way to explain it than that. So ask people at every intake point how they heard about you. Measure the number of times that AI is the answer, and if the answer is zero, what you're doing ain't working. That's the answer to your question. Thanks for tuning in.
