In today's episode, I explain how to use priming to transform a naive AI into an expert thinking partner. Here's what this means for you. You gain the ability to drive much more intelligent and specialized discussions by providing high-quality context. You'll also learn these concepts: how to build information-dense knowledge blocks, the value of using NotebookLM for synthesis, and ways to automate data gathering with n8n.
Key Takeaways
- You'll learn how priming transforms a naive AI into an expert thinking partner
- You'll discover how to use deep research reports to anchor your conversations in factual data
- You'll see how tools like NotebookLM and n8n help you build powerful knowledge blocks

Welcome back. This is part two of never think alone. Part two is called Prime the Partnership. And you've heard me talking about priming in the past in the Trust Insights Race Framework for AI prompting, role action context, execute, and in the rappel framework, role action prime prompt evaluate and learn. Priming is all about bringing a lot of knowledge to the table, bringing a lot of information to the table.
It's something that when people use AI poorly, when they don't, when they they use it in a very naive fashion, they don't bring a lot of information, a lot of knowledge to the party. And as a result, they get back pretty bland results. So when you're using AI as a thought partner, as a conversation partner. So as someone, uh a conversation, um, an active participant in your conversation, you want to have it have a lot of knowledge to begin with. And again, all the tools that are out there uh allow you to have access to deep research in you know, take your pick, perplexity, Gemini, OpenAI, and you can use that knowledge to prime conversations.
So as a result is an example. Let me show you this is Gemini. I'm using Google's Gemini. And let me make sure I'm in the right screen here. Nope, that is not the right screen.
Let's go to Mac OS screen capture properties, restart capture. So here we see uh deep research thing I was doing on N8N on the best practices for building N8N workflows. All of this information is stuff that I could start a conversation with. I could give this to Gemini and say, let's take this document as our starting point in our conversation. So if I fire it off into a Google Doc here and I export it as a PDF, and then I go into AI Studio, I hit stream, and I just drop in that PDF.
Oh, but I've not uh allowed for that. Uh that case, fine, I'll copy and paste it. Today we'll be talking about NAM. Here's some background information before we begin our talk. And let's make sure we're on Flash.
We have streaming real time. There's our context. All right, let's talk about N8N. Um, give me some ideas for how I could use NAN for my generative AI workflows. Pretty cool, right?
Now I did hang up there. But priming is all about what information can I bring to the party so that I don't have to start from scratch every time. If I want to have a conversation with a true conversation partner that has expertise, what would it look like if I took knowledge out of something like Deep Research, one of the deep research reports that I ran and threw that in the conversation to start. Instead of having a naive conversation partner, maybe somebody who didn't know the topic well, I now have an expert conversation partner because all the information that is in the deep research document, if you did the research well, you now have a huge amount of starting information for the for the AI to know the topic deeply and well. Any topic, take you know, HTML and running WordPress to marketing strategy to finance.
Putting your deep research documents, copy and paste the deep research reports into the streaming voice app of your choice. And now you have a conversation partner who's really well informed. That's a very, very fast way to bring priming knowledge to the table. You want to kick it up an even bigger notch. If you were to go and take those deep research reports and take them into a tool like Notebook LM, you can load from right from your Google Docs and say, I want my N8N workflow, and now I have my N8N concepts in here.
Let's build the mind map. I love the mind map feature, by the way, in uh Notebook LM, which is such a useful utility to be able to explore a concept and see what see all the ways that you can dig into up. Here we are, dig into it. So let's see, here's my from my research document. Here's all the pieces, right?
So here are the expert insights on advanced JSON manipulation, versatile toolkits, built-in nodes, and we can then generate additional pieces of the conversation. Go to the chat and say, There's the chat, says tell me more about these built-in nodes. Now, here's the hack. Suppose you're doing something like business strategy, and you want to have a conversation with generative AI. Remember, it's all about never think alone.
But there's a lot of information. Maybe you take a deep research report for each competitor in your space, you put them all into Notebook LM, and you take the summaries from specific angles and you drop those into the AI of your choice. That then gives you a much narrower context that's still rooted in reality. Because you're able to pull out just the pieces you want for a conversation and say, let's have a conversation about the pricing strategy of my competitors. And assuming the data's in the deep research reports, which is something you would have prompted for separately, you now can say, here's all the pricing information from Notebook LM as a Google Doc or PDF, whatever, that goes into your conversation app.
And now you can have an informed conversation about pricing and brainstorm maybe pricing tiers or service offerings, things like that. Part two of never think alone is literally called priming the partnership. How do we provide as much information as possible and it is from as many places as possible? You could, if you want to get super fancy, use a tool like N8N to grab information in real time from like RSS feeds, bring that and then send it to us, some kind of data store like Google Drive, and then in you can bring that into Notebook LM and process it there, or process it straight in the language model and have the summary or the excerpts then be put into the tool of your choice. All of that are ways to make your thinking partner smarter, which is the point of this second part.
Making your thinking partner as smart as they can be, maybe also taking some time to uh build an actual persona, give it a name, give it a persona, give it a personality so that it's more fun to talk to. It it's it gets you more into the mood of actually having a conversation with someone. So that's part two. Prime the partnership. Use deep research tools combined with tools like Notebook LM as synthesis tools to give you powerful condensed knowledge blocks, which is something I talk about in the generative AI use cases for marketers course that I teach.
You can find a trustinsights.ai slash use cases course. Build these knowledge blocks that are grounded in reality, very information dense, as the conversation starters to give to make your thought partner, your thinking partner as smart as possible. That's going to do it for this episode. Thanks for tuning in. Talk to you on the next one.
