Leave Claude set on Opus 5.5 Medium.
If you want the best blend of performance price brains and brawn, Anthropic pulled off something magical with Opus 5.5. It’s an extremely smart model, but it is also a parsimonious model. In the Artificial Analysis benchmarks, Opus 5.5 parallels the capabilities of Fable 5.1 in terms of intelligence, but uses far fewer tokens and costs less in aggregate, especially because it requires less rework.
And it blows away Sonnet 5.0 on both cost and tokens.
It’s rare in the world of AI to have a straightforward recommendation. In this case, in the open AI ecosystem, if you want the right balance of performance, speed, and cost, set your Claude to Opus 5.5 and the effort level to medium and leave it there. For this moment in time, that’s the best blend of performance you can get.
