AI Generated a Novel in 51 Minutes. Here’s Why Human Connection Still Wins in Influencer Marketing

Last night I used Minimax M3 to generate a steaming pile of AI slop in 51 minutes, a 50,000 word 1920s romance novel set in Venice. (and it’s terrible)

I did it to prove a point to a commenter on X who publicly posted they didn’t feel like human authors deserved fair compensation for their efforts and wanted books to be free. (rant about that in my previous post)

With one (large) project plan, Minimax knocked it out. But it is utterly devoid of a soul, of any originality, of anything another human would connect to.

And that’s the point I made to Spotlight in their 2026 B2B Influencer Marketing Report. (Ashley Zeckman had no idea this would involve 1920s Venetian romance – surprise, buddy!) In an age when a machine can crank out “product” in less than an hour that it takes a real human 6-9 months to create with care, we value that care more than ever.

We know when there’s a soul and when there isn’t, when someone put original thought into something because it’s low probability, something that AI struggles with because by definition it’s a probability engine designed to return the highest probabilities.

That’s why influencer marketing/creator-led marketing/whatever we’re calling it this week is more important than ever as well – and why influencers themselves need to be cautious about how they use AI and especially how they disclose it.

You can read the full report free, no forms to fill, no info to give here: https://bit.ly/3RpS66N

You’ll learn what the best practices are for influencer marketing today, what pisses off influencers and brands, and how you should be thinking about influencer marketing in the age of AI.

And you won’t find any sentences like this in it.

“The Hotel Excelsior rose off the beach like a wedding cake somebody had built on a dare — turrets, striped awnings, a great Moorish arch, the whole thing white and gold and impossible against the flat grey sea.”
