“How do I get {image generator AI} to deliver better results?”
How do you get a human creator to do it?
You certainly don’t do it by saying, “Hey Bob, can you make this picture better?” Bob will slap you. Actually, no he won’t. Being a creative, Bob will secretly make a caricature of you and circulate it among the design team and you’ll find it one day hanging on a cubicle wall, or if you’re really a jerk, printed on a cake in the break room.
Anyway.
You get Bob to deliver a better result by following the creative brief template that Bob’s design team asked you to use. Filling out that creative brief and being thoughtful in your answers is how you’ll get Bob to deliver the work product you want.
That includes:
- Project overview, context, and problem
- Goals and KPIs
- Target audience
- Key message
- Tone/vibe
- Budget and timeline
- Formats and dimensions
- Hierarchy of visual information
- Brand guidelines
- Usage context
- Shot lists
- Mood boards
- Logistics and production
- Post production
- Design patterns
- Antipatterns
- etc.
HUGE SURPRISE, AI works well with creative briefs too. I wanted a mockup of a UI earlier today. I provided a 1200 word creative brief, and Nano Banana Pro absolutely nailed it in one shot. Why? Because it had everything relevant from that list in there.
And bonus, in filling out the creative brief, it made ME think more carefully about the project. Instead of deskilling and offloading, AI made me think harder and sharper about what I actually wanted.
Even better news: you already have these briefs laying around, whether or not yuo use them. Someone, somewhere in your company or team has creative brief templates for writing, art, imagery, video, etc. which means you don’t need to reinvent the wheel to get AI to generate great results. Just use what’s proven to work already.
