Why People Don’t Care If Content Is AI-Generated (And What They Actually Want)

Far fewer people care about whether it’s AI or not.

Far more people care whether it’s useful, helpful, or entertaining for them.

A lot of folks are all tied up and twisted into knots about whether a given piece of content is authentically human or not. But when you go out in the world and you talk to customers, you talk to real people who just want their problems solved, you’ll note something interesting: almost no one cares whether a piece of content was made by machine or man.

What they deeply care about is that the content does its job.

Here’s a simple example: there are a TON of AI-narrated videos on YouTube, especially about pieces of software like Adobe Premiere. The scripts are very clearly AI generated (“in a world of confusing video options”) and the voices are easily recognizable as Google’s Text to Speech API voices.

But the videos are factually correct and walk users through simple questions and topics like “how to use the chromakey feature in Premiere 2025”.

These videos earn tens of thousands of views despite being painfully obvious that they’re not human-led. And yes, in the comments, there are a handful of “this AI” and “stop AI” (which I’m reasonably convinced are human if for no other reason than they’re barely literate).

But mostly no one cares.

Not because people value humans and machines equally. Because the content solves their problem. If you want to know how to use chromakey in Premiere 2025, you don’t care about who’s talking. You care about solving your problem, and whoever solves your problem the best gets the nod.

As AI tools mature and as the focus correctly shifts to “what do you actually do with these things?” spend your time, effort, and focus on solving people’s problems. In the end, people will do business with people and companies who solve their problems best; we are too overloaded and too overwhelmed most of the time to focus on anything other than getting things off our never-ending, never-shortening lists.

Whether that’s AI or human is mostly irrelevant.
