Summary
In today's episode, I explain how to use AI tools to analyze your social media engagement and identify your best-performing content. Here's what this means for you. You can focus your energy on topics that already prove their value instead of guessing what your audience wants. You'll also learn these concepts: how to capture social media data through video, how to transform visual recordings into data tables using AI, and how to expand short-form ideas into much longer posts.
Key Takeaways
- You'll learn how to identify winning content by analyzing engagement and impression metrics
- You'll discover how to turn video recordings of social feeds into data tables using AI
- You'll see how to use AI canvas tools to expand short-form posts into longer content

Alright, in this episode, we we have we're picking up where we left off in our content workflow/slash content supply chain series. In the first two episodes, we looked at using capture tools like voice memos and reminders apps to uh capture ideas as quickly as we have them because we want to do that. We want to make sure that we're capturing ideas as fast as we have them. In part two, we looked at using voice tools like voice memos, or in my case, uh a custom built tool, to create short form content. This short form content then goes on channels like uh LinkedIn, goes on channels like maybe uh Substack in its notes features.
What we want to pay attention to is do people react? Right? How do people react to your content? One of the easiest things you can do is go to a tool like LinkedIn, look at your posts, and either manually or with the assistance of AI, just start looking at the posts you've put up and look at the number of impressions they get, the amount of engagements they get, how people are engaging on things, whether it's your post or whether it's a repost that's getting um engagements, what kinds of engagements you're getting, to understand what's working. Because if you're gonna go take the next step and take your content and turn it into something like a video that has a much heavier lift in terms of editing the video and publishing it and making shorts from it, all that stuff.
You want to make sure you're working with stuff that are probably winners. So the way to do that is to capture the data in the tool of your choice for these various uh pieces of content and measure and and just say like how how effectively did this content perform. So I'll show you a very quick example. Let's go into my desktop tool. I'm gonna use Camtasia's snag it, which is a fantastic piece of software.
Uh, I'm gonna specify a region of my page and we're going to record video. And I'm just going to record this middle column here on LinkedIn. I'm going to hit record, hit three, two, one. And one at a time, I'm just going to scroll through my LinkedIn. I'm hitting the page down key rather than scrolling because what I don't want to do is I don't want to have sort of ripping and tearing in the image.
I want the image to be clean and easy for a generative AI tool to read. So we can see different posts, reposts, original posts, ads for the Trust Insights courses, and so on and so forth. That's a good selection there. That's about 30 seconds of video. Now let's take this 30 seconds of video and go over to Google Gemini.
I'm going to switch over to Flash because we don't need pro for this task. This is a very straightforward task. Let's see, where did that video go? There it is. Drop in the video.
And we're going to say, let's make actually let's make sure we do it in the canvas. Create a table of data about the posts shown in this video. The table should have the following columns. One date. Today's date is 2025.
Dates shown will be relative. So convert them to absolute dates in IYY M D D format. Two post type. Original post repost commercial post add. Three impressions.
Integer. Four engagements. This is likes, comments. This is uh likes five comments integer. Six reposts.
So what we're gonna have Gemini do is attempt to read this video and assemble this table. Let's see how well it does. Taking a look at this, it hallucinated. It completely did not read this video at all. And I can tell because the numbers are wildly wrong.
So I'm gonna let's change this and use a smarter model and do it in a contained environment using AI Studio because that was just appalling. Same video, same prompt, 10,000 tokens. So we're well, well, well within the uh the limit here. That is much better. Those numbers, let's just do a quick spot check here on the today's post.
Six comments, one repo. Yep, 405 impressions, good. Okay, so we know it's seeing things. So now we have tabular data, and we can go and analyze this data and see what things went well, what things went poorly. You can see there's some posts here that get thousands of of impressions that get good engagement, and there's some posts that just don't.
Um there's reposts, we can see some of the uh the data on that. What I do see that stands out is the commercial posts do poorly. So in terms of uh getting seen, they uh they they they just they don't perform. So now that I have this data, and I could would want to do this obviously with my data from Substack as well, not just LinkedIn. Understand what content should I produce next.
So if I were to take this here, right, this is the I should share my screen. So this is the short form content that we published last time. Uh the LinkedIn post. If I wanted to just get super fancy, let's go ahead and start a new chat. I'll say put this text in the canvas.
Oh, I'm gonna switch to pro because clearly put this text in the canvas. Flash was having some real issues there. I'm using Gemini. You can use Chat GPT for this, you can use Claude for this. Uh, anything that's got a canvas uh you can use.
Now, what you can see here is there's some buttons along the side, like suggest edits, change tone, change length. Let's take this and say I want you to make this very long. And what it's done, you can see the blue highlighted stuff is the stuff that it added in. So if I wanted to turn this into a video and I wasn't sure how to expand on the idea, I could take that, just say make this longer, and now I have a post that's almost twice as long. Now I've got the ability to to understand what's resonating with people and build that content and then record it and then publish it.
So that's part three. And the next part, let's talk about what do we do next from the stuff that once has been published, we know it's a winner. If you enjoyed this video, please hit the like button.
