You'll break free from analysis paralysis by focusing only on what to do more of and what to stop doing. You'll also learn these concepts: why data without decisions is just decoration, how a simple two-question framework can transform your analytics, and why every report should end with clear action steps.

In this week's do something with your marketing, two things. One, I want you to have a uh safe and happy and healthy and prosperous 2020. Hopefully, it is a fantastic year for you. So that one's pretty straightforward. The second thing I want you to do with your marketing, and I know some of you will not get to this until after the new year and once you're back in the office, is when you're looking back at your 2019 data, look at it not in terms of what happened, but in terms of what you want to carry forward into the next year and what you want to leave behind.
One of the problems people have with analytics is that they look at all the data and they obsess over it, they analyze to death, uh, they make charts and graphs and things, and really all you only need to at the end, you only need two things, right? What are we gonna stop doing? What are we gonna do more of? One of the things that I've been saying a lot, and it's gonna be prominent in uh one of the new talks I do is that data without decisions is decorations, right? It means nothing.
If you don't make a decision from it, it means nothing. So data without decisions are decorations. So when you look back at 2019, or when you look back at any period of time, a day, a week, a month, a quarter, what decisions will you make from it? Will you do more of some things? Will you do less of other things?
If when you're done with an analysis of a data set, you don't have decisions in hand, you didn't do the analysis, right? At least with a a a sensible goal in mind of what are we gonna do more of and what are we gonna do less of. So that's what I want you to do with your marketing is in your data analysis. What are we gonna do more of? What are we going to do less of?
Have those two decisions clearly spelled out for any piece of data you look at. Google Analytics, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, uh, paid ads, anything at all. Are we going to do more of this? Are we going to do less of this? Those decisions will help move your marketing forward and get you in the habit of not just looking at data for data's sake or making reports for reports' sake, but making your reports and analysis that means something that will move your business forward.
So that's the second thing. So number one, have a great year and thank you so much for being here with me. Two, make great decisions from your data. I hope your new year is wonderful. I hope that 2019 was either great or uh a great starting point for the even greater things to come.
And thank you for being a part of my community for reading and listening and watching. I look forward to working with you in 2020 in some capacity, whether it's just hanging out on these videos and in emails, or whether it's we get a chance to work together as clients or we meet uh meet up at an event. But either way, I hope to see you there. Thanks for being here and happy new year. Want help solving your company's data analytics and digital marketing problems?
