Build AI-Ready Content: How WCAG 2.1 Accessibility Makes Your Digital Goods Future-Proof for AI Agents

Accessible = AI ready.

A gentle reminder that if you create things that are WCAG 2.1 ready (web content accessibility guidelines), you are implicitly creating them to be AI-ready for agents, because AI agents use the same selectors (e.g. Playwright, browser automation) that assistive technology uses.

For example, ARIA HTML labels? Perfect fodder for browser automation. AI agents don’t have to guess what a selector is or does if you label it clearly.

The best part is that you, the human, don’t have to do this any more. Any coding or AI assistant tool can do this for you. Here’s a simple starting prompt:

Review my content against WCAG 2.1 ( use web tools to fetch https://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG21/ ) and provide an audit report by section number of WCAG 2.1 – Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust, Conformance. For each subsection provide an integer score from 0-5 for how well my content adheres to the requirements and a concise 1 sentence explanation of the score. If npm is available and usable, run npx axe-core cli first and base your scores off the results. Produce the audit report in Markdown format. Once you have completed the report, then produce a remediation plan to achieve scores of 5 for each subcategory in WCAG 2.1. The plan should contain exact descriptions of how to remediate and align the content with WCAG 2.1. The goal is 100% compliance with WCAG 2.1 and accessibility for both humans and AI agents via tools like Playwright. Review the plan with me. Once I approve, implement the plan. Ask me questions until you have enough information to succeed at this project.

This is best used in tools like Claude Code, Claude Cowork, OpenAI Codex, Google Antigravity, OpenCode, OpenWork, and similar agentic tools. Provide it with whatever digital good you’re producing and run the alignment test, then fix the issues, and your content is both human-ready and AI-ready.

What kind of digital goods? Anything with an interface. Software. Web sites. WordPress themes. eBooks. You name it – if it’s a digital good where you have control over the interface, you can upgrade it for AI and accessibility.

Make your content accessible for machines and humans alike.
