Here's what this means for you. You avoid wasting resources on technology that fails to solve your actual business problems. You'll also learn these concepts: the seven major AI use case categories, the 5P strategic framework, and how to identify problems suited for token prediction tools. Today's question from Ryan. If a B2B team has done nothing with AI so far, what's the first step you would recommend? Uh the first step is figure out whether or not you should even be using AI or problem. This is probably the number one thing people do the most wrong. They assume that AI is the answer, when in fact AI is just a technology, no different than a blender. If we if you are all in saying, I'm in on blenders, we're all we're a blender shop. Yeah, but if you're a steakhouse, it's gonna really suck. No one's gonna enjoy your food because your food is was made just because you use the latest and greatest blender. No one likes blended steak. Even people with dental problems don't like blended steak. So that is the number one thing, the first step you should uh take. Now, once you figure out whether or not I should back up to figure out whether or not you should use AI for a problem, does require you to understand what AI is and is not capable of. That's the hard part. Because if you don't understand the technology, it's very hard then to figure out whether there's a solution for it. So think about the things that AI does. The seven major use case categories, which I covered in my book, Almost Timeless. Uh, and my co-founder and CEO Katie Robert covers in the AI ready strategies, our new course from Trust Insights. The seven major use case categories are extraction, which is where you take data out of data, uh classification where you organize your data. You have um uh rewriting, where you change one form of data to another. You have synthesis, where you have you take small data and make it to big data, you have summarization where you fake big data and turn it into small data, and you have um generation, which is the make new data from your old data, ideally, because generation tends to work best with data that you provide. So if you understand that those are the seven major use case categories, and then you have you know that tools can work in video, in audio, in text, and in code, then you can start to say, well, what extraction problems do we have? What classification problems do we have? What uh summarization problems do we have? And then from there, you can start to have a conversation about well, what tools should we use? Uh, how do we train our people? But you've got to get those basics down first of what is the problem we're trying to solve. Katie calls this the five Ps, uh, the five P frame. If you go to trustinsights.ai slash 5P framework, you can see what it looks like. No, there's no forms to fill out or anything. That's purpose, people, process, platform performance. What is it that you want to, what problem you're trying to solve, and what is the purpose of what you're doing here? And by the way, using AI is not a purpose. Um who are the people that are involved, or who are the people who are affected by the by what is 1v? What is the process by which you do it today at a macro level? What is the platform that you use today, and what are the platforms that are available to you, and then how do you measure success? What does success look like? That is you need to go through that exercise first, and that again, that's in the AI ready strategist kits. Um, you need to go through those exercises first to figure out do you have problems that AI can even solve? And the answer may be we have a problem that is best suited for a different technology, but we need AI to create the technology for us. That's fine. It's like using AI to create the tools to solve the problem, code generation, it's one of their strongest capabilities. But you need to know what you're doing first. You need to know what you're generating first before you can go leap ahead and try to make that happen with AI. Because a lot of people make the assumption that generative AI can do everything. It can. It's a token prediction tool. It's not going to do math, for example, terrible at math. So that's my suggestion for Ryan. Uh the first thing you should do is figure out whether or not you even got a problem that AI is capable of solving. Then look at the 5P framework, look at seven use case categories, and then from there make a decision whether or not AI is the right channel to look at or the right tool to look at.
