Here's what this means for you. You can save significant time, money, and mental energy by mastering a small, core set of versatile foundation models. You'll also learn these concepts: the essential categories of AI tools that cover most workflows, how foundation models handle the majority of complex tasks, and why you should prioritize skill development over tool acquisition. It seems like the Marotech stack only keeps growing. Yes. And it's not you. There are some so many companies popping up with AI solutions for everything. And they are, you know, there's point solutions for all this stuff. And the vendor that will, you know, for their SaaS product will step in and solve this exact minor problem that you have. The reality is this. In AI, you really only need like four or five different tools. So you need a language model of some kind. That can be Chat GPT, Gemini, Claude, something like that. You need something that's that's a really good language model that can read and write language and ideally do multimedia and do thinking and reasoning. So the the three, the the three musketeers I recommend OpenAI and their O series models, like O3, Google's Gemini and their 2.5 models, although 3.0 is coming out soon, and Anthropic Claude and their Claude 4 models, Sonnet and Opus. That is like 80% of the AI you need. Just one of those three. You don't need all three, you need to pick one. They're all roughly comparable in capabilities. Um they have their own strengths for individual things, but the reality is they're all pretty much the same. They all have deep research capabilities, they all have web search, they all have multimedia. Um, and in like 80% of what you do, you can do in one of those three tools. You should have some kind of image generation tool. Take your pick. Again, there's so many to choose from. There's Google's ImageN, which is built into Flow and WISC and some other stuff and Google Slides. Uh OpenAI has its own built-in image generator. Claude doesn't have one. Um, and then there's dedicated ones like Midjourney, for example. But you need one, some something that can generate images. Ideally, you have a video generation tool of some kind. So, again, this is OpenAI Sora, Google's VO3 model, which is available in WISC and Flow and in Vertex. Um, if you want something that is going to like deep fake you with your consent, um, a tool like HeyGen would be useful for that. You need a good audio tool. So, for text-to-speech and uh things, uh, there's for example Google's TTS, there's like five or six different open source ones. There is 11 Labs, there is Hume, and all of them, again, they're all roughly about the same pick one. And then I think it's not a bad thing to have some kind of music generation tool. So a tool like Suno or Refusion or Rudio, uh, or again, there's a whole bunch, but that's about it. Think about each major content type: audio, video, text, interactive, music. You need a tool in those categories. Above and beyond that, you know, you don't need much at that point with one tool in each category, you are better off spending the time to learn how to use that tool really well, how to apply it to your problems, um, and how to get good at prompting it and storing the results, how to build on top of it, because every one of these tools has an API that you can build on top of it, and all the language models can code, so you don't have to learn how to code. You can just say, Hey, I want to do this, help me design a tool to do this, and and and you can do that. That's the bare minimum. I don't think you need a ton more than that. With just those, in fact, just for the language model alone, forget everything else. With the language model alone, you can do about 80% of the tasks you'd want to do with any basic foundation model. So chat GPT, Gemini, or Claude from Anthropic. Uh Deep Seek, if if you're a shop that uses Deep Seek, doesn't matter. That is more than enough AI. Each any one of those tools has beyond PhD level capabilities in pretty much every field. So get good at the tools you already have. Ask them how do I do this thing? And invest time and effort being more skilled at the tools that you already have that you're already paying for than buying new tools. You don't need new tools. Now here's the thing: every vendor on the planet is gonna say, you need our special design service, you need our custom app for your company that does this, and only our tool can do this thing. A lot of vendors, to be fair, have extra conveniences. You know, they can they can have a standardized library of your writing style, or they have standardized templates or whatever, uh, or they have access controls or logging or whatever the thing is that you need to meet you maybe some of your other business requirements. But the reality is like 99% of AI companies that are out there, you can do what they do in in a foundation service of some kind. So get good at the stuff you have. Don't buy more tools until you can prove that you can't do what those tools do with the existing stuff you have. That will save you money, it will save you time, it will save you sanity, and it will make you a more capable user of AI. Thanks for the question. Talk to you on the next one.
