Whether you are in marketing itself and you're going to marketing events like Content Marketing World or Martech or Inbound, uh, or you're in specific uh vertical sectors, you know, major events like Dreamforce, for example, it is mega conference season. It is a time when companies are spending thousands, if not millions, of dollars to try and get everybody in one place to network to share ideas, of course, for the company throwing the event to promote their own stuff. And so, what I want you to do this week, since we're just embarking on the season is figure out how your company can take advantage of the mega conference in your space. Whatever your space is, the industrial concrete show, the uh the the knitting and uh cloth uh textile weaving uh events. There's a conference literally for everyone. Uh, I remember keynoting an agriculture conference of a couple of years ago and talking about social media influence in the agriculture space. It's a real thing, it's a huge industry. Um, and the people who are farmers who are enjoying digital media today, guess what? Podcasts, it's their jam because when you're sitting in a combine, uh, you know, you sort of just watching the machinery sort of self-drive, because a lot of it is self-driving now. It's a very contained uh pre programmed route with a GPS, and you're just there to make sure the thing you know doesn't go off the rails. Um, do that six or eight hours a day, and podcasts and such are your friends, particularly with uh really good mobile plans uh nowadays, some of which have unlimited data. So, you've got an event in your space, probably multiple events. How are you taking advantage of it? How are you taking advantage of the event? How are you marketing your company to the people who are at the event? Maybe if you're not even if you're not going, but you want to be going, you want to be part of the conversation. So I'll give you a couple of examples. For my company, Trust Insights, we're a data company, we're a data analytics, uh, marketing analytics. So, what do we do? We do things like speaker roundups. We analyze the social media posts of speakers who are speaking at an event at an event, look at the last year's worth of their data. And we can say, Okay, here's what the speakers at content marketing world uh talk about throughout the year. Um, these are the accounts or publications that are most influential to them. And as a result, we're able to participate in cut in the conversation uh long before the event. Uh during events, we do network maps, which is where we analyze who is talking to whom on social media as a way of showing a proxy of influence, who is the most talked about person at an event, not who's the loudest, but who is talked about again as a proxy for influence, for authority, for uh respect, and our use of data to promote those things uh gives us the ability to participate in a conversation about the event in a meaningful way and in a way that's on brand. What does your brand have to offer? Uh, are you, for example, a creative company? Guess what? You should be doing creative illustration, um, vector art, video, whatever, to showcase your particular take on something. If you are, say, a combine company and you got a major agriculture show show coming up, what are some things that you can create for the event that highlight how uh agriculture is changing and how you're part of that conversation? Maybe uh it is better seed yields, maybe it is uh advanced combines that have some machine learning built in that can recognize when a crop is or is not uh ready for picking. Whatever the case is, your company has something, you have something as a marketer to offer to the event to the crowd to get some mind share. And the good news is with events being so prominent and trying to do their best to be a to create buzz about uh you know the event to make it look more appealing to attendees and potential attendees in the future, if you can help participate by creating this kind of content for the event, it makes their event look bigger, it makes their event look more important when you publish a uh a news release or you publish an infographic or you publish a study or a research paper, that is powerful for getting people to pay attention and creating buzz about the event. Now, this is where the experts hang out. This is where the the people who are in the know hang out, and by doing that, you are helping to add to that perception. So that's what I want you to do in your marketing this week. Whether and now, if you're then this week, it's probably a little too late, but um depending on your company, depending on your unique value proposition, how can you take advantage of events coming up in your industry, in your space, and gain some leverage, gain some prominence, gain some visibility uh that can help your marketing?
