Chris: Great piece. Inspired me to write on it myself. This hit on two issues that I am passionate about: 1) the power of tunnel vision and negative feedback loops to stifle innovation and creativity and 2) the platform of social media to help avoid those twin terrors. I think you are dead-on when you talk about how social media helps you avoid the twin terrors by providing a constant barrage of new thinking and new perspectives. It is hard to get stuck in a stable equilibrium if the system is constantly being shocked.

The business perspective on how you can use social media is very useful.

There are some industry segments that will be much slower to react to the social media way of thinking and its potential ROI. There is still plenty of mileage in this way of thinking for business professionals.

Chris,
All this talk about food is making me hungry. No really, excellent stories from Malcom Gladwell. We have the ability with social medial to hear other voices, learn from each other, and encourage diversity. I hope we see more people join that have been long overlooked.
Cheers,
Tim

I love this lecture myself and I couldn't agree with you more. Being involved in social media has exposed me to great people who I have learned from and broaden my worldview.
