Chris,

Thanks for posting. My demotivation usually means my inspiration has gone missing. When I'm inspired stone walls can't contain me, but when inspiration leaves I have trouble walking through an open door. Sometimes I'm just tired. But usually it's because I've lost my focus. I regain focus by remembering why it is I do what I do. I think of my family. I want to provide for them. As someone working in sales, I have a factory full of employees depending upon me to generate enough business so that they can provide for their families. Often I will spend some time with the folks in the factory, which always inspires me to quickly regain any lost focus. By this time I am inspired again to live up to my own capacity for achievement.

In a world of non-stop messages, the vast majority of which are negative, it is sometimes very easy to lose our way. Taking a few moments to realign myself with my purpose always gets me back on course.

Peter

Passing this on to my employees (and myself). Excellent advice. How much time and energy is wasted just because we feel overwhelmed and unmotivated? Way too much. I'd rather blast through the stuff (hopefully doing some good) then go relax. We employers are guilt of chaining our employees to desks or cubes and forcing people to stare at screens all day. Idiotic if you ask me. We should be asking our employees how they like to work, then make the environment work better for them. That would help a lot I think.
